Vega Sicilia

Vega Sicilia is the most prestigious and recognized Spanish winery in the world. Their wines have a complex and long elaboration, they are created to age and improve with the years. Its origin dates back to 1862. Founded by Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, its success lay not only in the extraordinary quality of the wine but also in its exclusivity. The winery, run by Álvarez family since 1982, has just celebrated its 150th anniversary, maintaining its essence of quality and exclusivity. Important reforms and improvements It been undertaken in its facilities, has unified its brands and faces the future with unbeatable prospects. Vega Sicilia is a luxury that only a few can access. Its very limited production requires to distribute its wines by quotas and, if the winery detects that those quotas are used to resell the product to other stores, it cancels them without remission. Currently, the mother house markets three reds: Valbuena 5th Year, Vega Sicilia Único (with a minimum of 7 years aging in oak barrels) and Vega Sicilia Único Reserva Especial, made with a coupage of three ,sometimes two, years.
